We organize a “Vigyan Jatra” (Science Fair) on the 28thFebruary every year to mark the occasion of “National Science Day”, which is celebrated all over India in recognition of the Raman Effect by the great Indian scientist Sir Chandrashekhara Venkata Raman.
Each year, We select a relevant topic and conduct various activities like workshops, exhibitions, film screenings etc. The objectivities of these activities is to instill a scientific temperament in children, respect for their environment and current scientific events. Till now we have conducted Science Fairs on themes of Transit of Venus, Human anatomy, Superstition & Science, Plastic Pollution and Astronomy- Sun and its function, Day time Astronomy.
We have been able to reach over 10,000 students through these Vigyan Jatras and we conducted various workshops and activities which were able to help them see through many superstitions, teach them about the transit of Venus that occurs every 105 years, make them aware of the dangers of plastics and its negative effect on our environment, understand human anatomy etc. We will continue to conduct Vigyan Jatras and engage and invoke students to think and experiment on their own and learn new things which will inspire them to think scientifically and rationally.
